Personal Statement

I am a hematologist/oncologist specializing in the care of patients needing a blood or bone marrow stem cell transplant or cellular therapy to treat their blood cancer or other non-cancerous but serious blood disorders. Among others, I treat patients with  leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, myelofibrosis, myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs).My goal is to provide the best possible care for my patients not only by offering state-of-the-art therapies and bridging research innovations into personalized care, but also by building compassionate, empathic and trusting relationships with my patients and their families.I am deeply aware of how vulnerable a patient can feel after receiving a cancer diagnosis and being referred for a stem cell transplant or cellular therapy. That is why, with every patient, I take the time to educate and provide clear explanations of the different treatment options, including available clinical trials, so my patients can be active participants in helping plan each step of their care. I have a genuine passion for what it means to be a physician and strive to make my patients’ well-being my number one priority. As a physician/researcher at Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ and NewYork-Presbyterian, I have the privilege of working with a multidisciplinary group of experts in one of the leading medical academic institutions in the country, which provides the comprehensive environment needed for medical innovation, creativity and top medical care. My research focuses on improving the efficacy of stem cell transplants to keep blood cancers in remission, developing better post-transplant monitoring strategies to promote earlier detection of disease recurrence, and expanding treatment options for patients who suffer a relapse following a transplant. Finally, I am dedicated to extending access to life-saving interventions and cutting-edge care to underserved communities.
