Personal Statement

Losing a family member to breast cancer shortly before beginning medical school pushed me to dedicate my career to the field of breast oncology. I have always been passionate about the science and biology of cancer, but have also recognized the impact that a cancer diagnosis has on not only the patient, but the entire family. In my clinical practice, I strive to individualize care to each patient’s particular medical needs as well as their personal values. Being a strong advocate for my patients within the complexities of the medical system is of utmost importance to me, as is forging trusting relationships with my patients and their families.

I have been astounded by the tremendous progress that has been made in the field of breast oncology with the addition of numerous new treatment options for all subtypes and stages of breast cancer in recent years.

Leading and participating in research offers me the opportunity to bring the latest scientific discoveries to my patients and to constantly challenge the standard of care. Developing new research studies based on the needs of our patients is an important part of cancer research, and an exciting part of my career. I have a particular focus on triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) and have been expanding our research platform for this subtype. I have a strong interest in translational cancer research and work closely with laboratories at Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ in a multidisciplinary investigative approach. Additionally, I am committed to bridging patient care with clinical research and have been fortunate enough to do so as a part of the Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ Breast Center team.
