Personal Statement

Growing up I witnessed the experiences of friends and family navigating their way through the complex healthcare system. Through their experiences, I realized the importance of having access to great medical care as well as the importance of having a strong advocate. I was drawn to pediatric neurology, more specifically epilepsy, as it combined my interests in neuroscience and patient advocacy. Epilepsy is a pervasive disease in that it touches the lives of not only the patients themselves, but their entire family. As a pediatric epilepsy specialist, it is a privilege to be part of their healthcare journeys.
