Biographical Info

Dr. Jason Edwards serves as the Medical Director of Inpatient Rehabilitation and the Director of Brain Injury Rehabilitation at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. He is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation and Regenerative Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.  

 Dr. Edwards is double-board certified specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Brain Injury Medicine. Dr. Edwards provides comprehensive neurologic rehabilitation and spasticity management for patients with traumatic brain injury, stroke, brain tumors, and other neurological conditions. He takes an individualized approach to rehabilitation, assessing each person’s unique injury to then guide treatment choices to maximize function and quality of life.  

 Dr. Edwards completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston/TIRR, where he served as Chief Resident. He completed his Brain Injury Medicine & Rehabilitation fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine/Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, where he was awarded the Shirley Ryan Research Accelerator Program Quality Grant for his work on vestibular dysfunction after traumatic brain injury. While at Northwestern, he also completed specialty training in Medical Education through the Feinberg School of Medicine.

 A frequent presenter at conferences on neurologic rehabilitation, Dr. Edwards has contributed to numerous scientific journals on brain injury. While at the Texas Medical Center, he was the host and moderator of PMReport, the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston’s podcast exploring the latest trends and advances in the world of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.  

 Dr. Edwards has received numerous awards for his work in brain injury rehabilitation:

He has been recognized as a SuperDoctors New York Rising Star in 2021, 2022, and 2023. This honor represents the top New York doctors in more than 30 specialties that have been fully licensed for 10 years or less.

He was also recognized as a Castle Connelly Rising Star (2023).

NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital named Dr. Edwards as Physician of the Year for 2023.

The Brain Injury Association of New York State recognized Dr. Edwards as their State-wide Medical Honoree for the 2023 March on for Brain Injury, recognizing his advocacy for persons with brain injury in New York State.
