About Kyungmouk Steve Lee, M.D.
Having been at Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ for more than 10 years, I believe that patients who come to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital receive the highest quality care. As a physician, I specialize in image-guided interventions with a focus in treating patients with liver tumors, including primary liver cancer and hepatic metastases from colon cancer, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, neuroendocrine cancer, and melanoma. Using state-of-the-art imaging technology, I perform minimally invasive procedures, providing an alternative to surgery. As a clinician, I demand excellence of myself and my team with the goal of delivering outstanding, personalized care to every patient.
Kyungmouk Steve Lee, M.D. is a board-certified interventional radiologist specializing in the treatment of liver tumors. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology and maintains specialty certification in Interventional Radiology/Diagnostic Radiology (IR/DR).
Dr. Lee earned his bachelor of science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) and his medical degree with honors in research from Weill Cornell Medical College. He completed a residency in diagnostic radiology and a fellowship in interventional radiology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He is currently an assistant professor of radiology at Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå°æ and an assistant attending radiologist at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Dr. Lee’s research focus is in optimizing non-surgical ablative therapy of tumors (e.g., using a needle with extreme heat to destroy cancer). He is also researching the use of image-guided infusion of endothelial cells for liver regeneration and the treatment of cirrhosis. He has authored over 25 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters as well as being awarded research grants from the Society of Interventional Radiology and the Radiological Society of North America.
Dr. Lee’s clinical expertise is in interventional radiology and he uses a multidisciplinary approach to decide the best treatment strategy for each patient. His clinical focus is in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer including:
- Yttrium-90 (Y-90) Radioembolization of Liver Tumors
- Chemoembolization of Liver Tumors
- Microwave Ablation of Liver Tumors
- Image Guided Biopsy
- Port Placement
- Biliary Drain Placement
Dr. Lee enjoys listening to classical music, playing tennis, and learning golf with his wife and daughter.
