"Everyone Else Just Gave Up"

The headache came from out of nowhere 鈥 the stabbing pain was like an ice pick in 17-year-old Aeris Clarkson鈥檚 head. 鈥淚t just wouldn鈥檛 stop,鈥 she recalls now. 鈥淚t would be once a minute, or sometimes every fifteen seconds, a stabbing pain, again and again. I couldn鈥檛 do anything, it was so bad.鈥 Her worried mom took her to the emergency room, where doctors told the teen that her headache was probably hormonal and gave her migraine medication. The pain started again in the car on the way home.
