About Pooja Murthy, M.D.
When I was a medical student, I participated in a medical oncology research fellowship which opened my eyes to the fascinating biology of cancer and the rapid research advances in the field. I initially decided to pursue a career in oncology because of this love for science. However, as I began to take care of patients with cancer, it is the stories of courage and the privilege of partnering with patients through their cancer experience that have become the most compelling aspects of my job. I strive to provide evidence-based, compassionate, and comprehensive care to my patients, incorporating the latest research developments in order to achieve the best outcomes. I am dedicated to taking care of the entire patient and using shared decision-making throughout the process, with the goal of improving overall health and well-being during and after treatment. I have a particular interest in breast cancer and enjoy being involved in breast cancer clinical research. As a native New Yorker and Queens resident, I am especially excited to serve this diverse borough, and aim to bring clinical trial access to a broader patient population.
