Why Choose Our Fetal Care Center?

From diagnosis to delivery, the Fetal Care Center team cares for and supports you and your pregnancy every step of the way. We take pride in the capabilities that make our center one of New York City鈥檚 best for fetal care, including:

  • Comprehensive fetal imaging. Our team includes sonographers and maternal-fetal medicine physicians skilled at using ultrasound to diagnose complex fetal conditions. If additional imaging were recommended, fetal MRI and fetal echocardiogram are also available.
  • Genetic counseling and testing. Our genetic counselors can help you understand how a genetic condition could affect the health of your pregnancy. They can also educate you about diagnostic testing options, such as chorionic villus sampling and amniocentesis.
  • Second opinions. Our team of experts can offer alternative perspectives for prenatal diagnoses, giving you additional insight to help you make informed decisions.
  • Timely education and support. Once you connect with the Fetal Care Center, you鈥檒l have access to a coordinator and nurse practitioner throughout your journey who can help you understand the process and coordinate the appointments you need. At every step, our team will provide education about your prenatal diagnosis and treatment options.
  • Seamless delivery coordination. When it鈥檚 time to deliver, our experts will coordinate with your obstetrician and the delivery team at your hospital to update them on the services you received from us. Need to transfer your prenatal care to or ? One of our maternal-fetal medicine specialists will lead your care team.
  • . A multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurse practitioners and nurses provides the highest level of care for critically ill and preterm babies in the NICU at Alexandra Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns. The team also includes registered dietitians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, feeding therapists, lactation specialists, pharmacists, social workers and case managers. Our NICU has a dedicated neonatal operating room and MRI located within the NICU. If your baby will require a NICU stay, our team can arrange a tour before the time of birth.
  • Continuing care. After birth, we鈥檒l help coordinate any specialty care your child needs. If that includes surgery, rest assured that, whenever possible, our surgeons will use minimally invasive techniques when possible.
