Personal Statement

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the 3rd leading cause of mortality worldwide, but despite this tremendous impact on human health, little is known about the biology of COPD pathogenesis and progression. My research utilizes both large, well-characterized, multicenter COPD patient cohorts as well as in vitro and murine models of disease, bridging the translational gap between the bench and the bedside. My goal is to discover novel COPD disease endotypes that will allow personalized treatments of COPD patients, slowing or halting their lung function decline.
